I am thinking about windsurfing in Bird Island basin this February. What is the wind like that time of year? |

I think it might be a bit early. You can get lucky and get wind, but I think April is when it starts being reliable.

And that's when I'll be there. Are you going this year Steve? _________________ The Time a Person Spends Windsurfing is not Deducted from their Lifespan...

It just so happens that me and the wife have been discussing this. We'll see.

If you go to SPI proper (not Bird Basin), let me know. I'll be staying on the island in a condo the whole month of April. About one block from the windsurfing shop.... |

tstr,
In my limited experience, it can blow pretty much any speed and any direction in winter. Good news is the shop is open (after Jan 15) in case you need to rent small gear for that epic day. Also, the locals are pretty good at knowing what might happen "tomorrow."

Let me throw in my vote for WorldWinds as one of the best facilities in the contiguous U.S. for equipment sales and rentals. Great staff, good selection, etc...
