All the kiters do that where I live. Also there are those who will not wear a seat harness because it " looks like a diaper"

Evans, not to be disrespectful or anything, but what's with the bad tasting caffeine delivery system avatar??? This coming from a coffee snob - I'll admit.

me and mat-ty on our way back from cv. We came on what was a very low-mediocre forecast and I believe Matt was stoked as he got his first down-the-line action and pretty much long hours of sailing everyday. I definitely think he would've had more fun with Team Abide in tow, then just hanging with grumpy worker boy. I always get sucked in to work projects despite my intentions to be fully commuted water-guy.

Looking forward to Family and Christmas in Boston, but getting a taste of warmth again , may have been more damaging then helpful for my Boston sailing.

Last Sunday looked like a great day for light wind SUP sailing at Coast Guard. Thanks to PK for many useful tips.

It did not end to well - maybe I should have asked Exocet first if the WindSUP 10 can survive waves. Apparently, they think not. Since the wind does not seem to be coming back, I am considering getting a cheaper and more robust SUP for light wind wave sailing. Details at http://boardsurfr.blogspot.com/2012/12/exocet-windsup-10-not-for-surf.html

Pieter

It always stinks when you break stuff.
But do not give up.

JE is really lucky, does not get into too much trouble in the surf

But i have destroyed a lot of gear over the years in surf.
This year 2 sails, 1 boom

Last year cracked board, broken sup Similar to yours i fixed
1 sail, 1 mast,

One year I wash up on the rocks at chatham light and lost a board crushed on rocks by wave and a sail

I think outcast is better in board department but he has gone through masts and sails more than I.

It is part of the game to me. Most of the time it is not so bad.

Most of the time if there is damage it is in the shore break. Conditions here and in OBX can be quite punishing. The days that seem tame are usually wosre that the days that look scary.

SUPing and surfing are really important to do. They really relate to the wave riding and they give you time on the water to get a sense for the waves and how the behave as well as a mind set that set you up to deal with the 4 dimensional conditions that wave sailing adds.
