The wind is good this time of year. Lots of NW, N, NE days, with some other wind directions in the mix, too. I'd say the best spot is on the East Coast between Cape Canaveral and Palm Beach. That's where it's windiest, and there's a good mix of ocean sailing and lagoon sailing venues there.

James,
For what it's worth, really enjoy your blog and videos. You convinced me to get a gopro. I learned to windsurf in the Boston area (Duxbury and the Cape) and have been oversees in Japan and Micronesia for a while. Back in the States now in Pensacola and looking for wind!

We had some wind here in the East Central area up until about ten days ago, but things have calmed down and it's been boringly calm. That is the trouble with Florida, the winds never are that good and they often are on days that are far and few between.

just looked at the sensor array for northern brevard county. wind is doing 15-25 slightly W of N. i was out on a 105 liter wave board and a 6.5 sail. may have been able to go 5.8, but i tend to like all the power i can muster for tricky spots in the surf.

I was down in the Miami area over the last couple of weeks and there were some decent E/SE and NE winds on Biscayne and Virginia Key.

I had some great sailing in Key West many years ago this time of year. Just pulled off the side of the road by a bridge and sailed in the inlet between Key West and the next island up. We were there for a week and had wind about half the time.

Launched right here... http://goo.gl/maps/zPHMG
