I do that at the OR coast, where the hike is a couple of hundred yards across big, extremely gusty, soft sand dunes. The problem then becomes brain-dead tourists who insist that any object lying untended on a beach is theirs under salvage law, or kids who just like pretty things. I've had to rescue my gear from both, and shuddered when the kid tossed my board back on the ground in 30+ knots of wind. "Do Not Steal My Stuff" signs on the gear make no difference; I've still lost stuff to idiots, and almost had to take a wetsuit back by force from the parks employee who stole it. |

My rig up SOP:
1. take board and mast down to beach.
2. return to truck, change into wetsuit.
3. take sail, boom, harness down to beach.
4. ask Chinese guy not to stand on board.
5. take pics of Chinese guy holding board.
6. take pics with Chinese guy.
7. take pics of Chinese guy and family holding board.
8. rig sail while answering questions about windsurfing.
9. say good bye to new Chinese friends.
10. hit the water |

Nope, just ask the 4 star general who came under his improper sunscreen investigation, a.k.a. the Coppertone Affair. _________________ Support Your Sport. Join US Windsurfing!

Here is the video. I tried for the record to delete this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZpXmtnWc24 The instructor says Gorge guys's are insane. And F you guys.
This guy was looking for trouble. I have run into these white guys on Hawaii that insist they own Hawaii! This is a classic example! Study the video. I have been sailing for years. I mean if this was Roweena on the rocks I get it! This is some white guy that has that white snobby scummy attitude on Hawaii! |

I need to point out that the guy filming was NOT the guy who left the sail on the beach, yet he got the wrath from that sunfried dweeb of a beach king.
But a big thanks to Josh for posting that link to South Park, Going Native episiode. That was hill lar ious! I've stayed on Maui and Kauai a bunch of times and that show nailed it. [/code] |
