On a whim, I decided to pop in and get my minivan inspected today. The lack of preparedness meant I had to dump all my sailing gear out on the parking lot to enable the seat belt check. The guy checking said “man, if you’re still sailing this time of year, you must be hooked. With my so-so embarrassed response, he followed up with what a “great thing to be hooked on”. I’m sure most of us know that there are days that our families might have a different opinion.

Anyway, now I'm in a quandary

Friday afternoon – Spend time with family or roam the outer beach in search of surf that hasn’t been molested by the persistent east wind or of a size that would eat me up.

Saturday – More Family time or prepare myself to make the big hike to sail the bay at low tide. At least it will be warmer than Sunday.

Sunday – Church no, bundle up, yes, for a cold one in the bay.

My biggest fear is whiffing for 3 strikes!

RC

Risky business, here. I'd suggest picking the best day of the three, to avoid multiple strikes in one weekend. The family no doubt understands your passion, so will be fine knowing one day you'll be with your other love.

Careful on skipping church or fully missing some one-on-one reverence time, though ... The last time I did that, I ended up with stitches from a fin slash and the wind shut down mysteriously.

The ocean is my church.
The wind is my God
and my sail is my steeple.
My religion is not based on guilt like most of the others. Wink

All i know is that everything went dark a few times this morning.

That is such a freaky sensation....especially when it happens right at the moment of the drop.

I've had it happen on the Cape dawn patrols, but the sun was pretty high at 9, down at "Josh's left". Had a little West side last nite.

Very Thankful.

If I'm reading it right that you (OC) went out this morning; congratulations. I would not have had the strength, skill or the balls. After watching Nauset get the a$$ kicked by D-Y, we, wife and daughter, took to the shore ride home. Growlers as noted by PK were a good name for it.

During a house cleaning break, a little mirco effort of re-dek today is gonna make my old Haut sing again.

Man, I better get at least one session during this stretch!
