|
|
My Angulo Surfa 10'4" sailable paddleboard got stolen off my roof rack two nights ago in Bonita Springs, Florida. The crook(s) just cut the straps and took it, ironically leaving the Exocet WindSUP 11'8" that was stacked under it.
Anyway, if anyone sees or hears about a sketchy person going around trying to ride or a sell a white-with-purple trim and grey deckpad Angulo Surfa, let me know. The board has a distinctive extra us box finbox installed in the belly for a jury-rigged center fin for beginner windsurfing.

I called as many local SUP shops as I could find and told them to be on the watch, and I'm trying to keep an eye on craigslist and ebay as well.
The nearest SUP shop said that a very suspicious grungy-looking young white guy came in the day after the board was stolen and was asking a bunch of stupid questions about how much a sup board was worth, and what was the round thing on the deck (obviously he meant my chinook base plate mast attachment) for, etc.
I'm keeping the WindSUP locked up in the shed now, and I got a "docks lock" to help secure it when it's on the roof rack.

Might be a naive thought but anyway: could street cameras get a fix on that guy, his car etc.? |

that really sucks man
keep your eye out on craigslist for the next several months.
my friend had a board "re-acquired" and I happened to come across it for sale in craigslist 3-4 months later. He called the police and got it back within 24 hours
Luckily with the modifications, your board is one of a kind and will be easy to prove it's yours.
good luck ! |

I GOT IT BACK!
The guys at Sweetwater Paddlesports saw some idiot walking down the sidewalk with it right across the street from their shop. They called me, then we called the Bonita Springs Sheriff and the Sheriff caught him red handed. All I had to do was answer some questions over the phone to verify that it was my board, then I showed up on the street corner where they were holding the board to double-verify it and take it home. The bad guy was there too because they were still interrogating him. Apparently he confessed, and he's going to jail. It was weird being right there 10 feet from the thief, but we didn't talk to each other or anything.
I'm keeping my boards locked up in the van or the shed now when they're not on the water.

You did the smart thing in getting out the news with all the pertinent details. It's super great when everything comes together through the help and cooperation with others. |
