|
|
Thinking about some light wind SUP sailing at Coast Guard Beach today (assuming that the 25 mph winds we see at West Island will not reach Kalmus). However, we never sailed there, and we're new to waves (but decent light wind sailors).
How is Coast Guard for light wind sailing in SW? Seems it would be side-off, which should be good, or are the dunes too high? What tide levels are best or at least doable?
Thanks,
Peter |

I think if you are relatively new to waves that you should take a pass today....would be happy to stoke you on a smaller day
The Cam looks like pretty short period chest to head high.....offshore wind now, and i suspect alot of currrent......not easy. best would be sideshore waist high.
High tide at CG is better....low tide it gets real dumpy on the sandbar, although that may be pushed around now. Probably a fair amount of shit in the water..littorally ( ..so be careful.
Find Evans.....he may be suppin....i'm workin _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

Don't mean to dis-encourage, in fact, more in the Ocean is a good thing.
Lord knows we've been baiting Ron C. for years, but you don't want to get pounded first time out.
Newport or Horseneck would be my vote for "Intro to waves" venue in the Region with moderate westerlies.
CG when smaller on a higher tide ok with SE/S/SSW. S is best but usually means rain. Pure SW can be a little tricky but fun.....usually you are dealing with surfers at that point.....and that is fun too if you are polite _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

How about Coast Guard in N-NNE? The setup for tomorrow looks promising, with winds around 15, small swells, and an early afternoon high tide. I'm thinking of SUP sailing, but if the wind comes in a bit stronger, I just got a new 96 l wave board that wants to see some waves.. |

That's do-able.
High tide at 2.
CG will work up to dead high tide if there is a swell running.....which there is.
A bit onshore, Fetch is better at Nauset for N NNE, but Nauset won't work at High tide....better lower/mid
Good luck....I'm taking to the highway with Crazyfingers _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

Hardie, we were thinking closer to high tide and thus a bit later (maybe 11). For planing, it seems a very early session would be better, but I'm fine with light wind SUP sailing if I get to sleep a bit longer.
