This year's Texas State Windsurfing Festival is slated to be one of the best windsurfing events we have had in North Texas to date! This event is sponsored and organized by the North Texas Wind Riders windsurfing club, and includes race categories for beginners, and other classifications (such as Formula).

You may ask "What makes this particular year so special?" Joining us will be eight time world champion windsurfing pro Kevin Pritchard all the way from Maui.

Kevin and his brother Matt Pritchard have been fixtures of the windsurfing community world wide. He now represents Ezzy Sails and Starboard, both solid brands that are a local favorite in our Texas windsurfing community.

Additionally, Tony Kardol will be present representing Loft Sails and RRD Boards. Tony is an extremely friendly gentleman who has been around the industry world-wide. His knowledge of windsurfing and windsurf boards is second to none. He usually comes with a big white van packed FULL of stuff like windsurf boards, SUP's, and sails for people to put their hands on and even try out on the water. Also, Todd Weatherill with Bic Sports plans to attend with a nice lineup of both SUP's and Windsurf boards.

What's going to be happening?

The Race is a fun and relaxed regatta. This is not something where everyone is expected to be an expert. In every race there are people who surprise themselves with their performance, and if you cant even finish a race it is nothing to fret about; this happens to the best of us. There are typically at least four classes - the 7.5 SqM Limited, Open sail size, Formula, and Beginner or Fun Fleet. Occasionally other classes will be added as necessary such as Kona, Slalom, or Long Boards.

The Band is called ZionaurA and this is the deal...Horns pop to the conga bouncing rythm of a brand new sound, as an ordinary evening is transformed into a beach side dance party. An island vibe is in the air with ZionaurA! Our very own NTWR member Jet Tessman is the lead singer. Jet is relatively new to the sport, however is enthusiasm and progress thus far has been fantastic.

Catered Dinner is provided by the steakhouse up the road on Saturday night, and let me tell you, it is the most divine, scrumptious, and fulfilling country food you can have after a full day of sailing.

Beer...keg or kegs, this is self-explanatory.

Prize Giveaways...at Texas State whether you win or lose, everyone is a winner! We have all kinds of goodies we will be raffling off Sunday from sponsors such as Ezzy, Dakine, Chinook, and others!

Other Stuff will be going on. It is almost always the case that beginners will get tips and sometimes even a full lesson from their windsurfing friends or experts at the location. Let us not forget that camping is free, and the shower and bathroom facilities at the club-house are very good. We will have other activities depending on how the mood swings us.
