...the flood warning continues for the following rivers in southwest
lower michigan...
portage river near vicksburg affecting kalamazoo county
.scattered showers and thunderstorms will cross the area this
afternoon. this will produce under a half inch of rain. locally heavy
rain is possible. the extended outlook is for dry weather friday into
saturday night. the following forecast is based on observed and
forecast 24 hour precipitation.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
safety message... motorists should not attempt to drive around
barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

* at 1:10 pm thursday the stage was 5.1 feet.
* flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* forecast, the river will continue to fall below flood stage by
after midnight tonight.
* impact, at 5.0 feet...expect overflows into wooded areas and
farmland adjacent to the river
* flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 5.0 feet
on apr 20 2013.

kankakee river at davis affecting la porte...starke and st. joseph
counties
.river levels on the kankakee river at davis are expected to continue
to drop. minor flooding will continue over the next 48 hours.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
never drive vehicles through flooded areas. the water may be too deep
to allow safe passage. never allow children to play in or near flood
waters. stay tuned to noaa weather radio or local media for further
statements and updated forecasts.

all times are in eastern time. this statement will be updated in

the kankakee river at davis
* until late sunday night.
* at 9 am thursday the stage was 11.4 feet and steady.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* forecast...the river will fall below the 10.0 foot flood stage
around 4 am sunday august 28.
* at 11.0 feet...flooding of secondary roads near the river begins.
