...winter storm watch remains in effect from monday evening
through tuesday afternoon...

* locations...monroe...wayne...northern cayuga...and the 
  eastern lake ontario region.

* timing...from monday evening through early tuesday evening.

* hazards...heavy snow and sleet.

* accumulations...snow potentially accumulating 6 to 10 inches.

* winds...northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* visibilities...below a half mile at times.

* impacts...wet snow and sleet will result in slick travel 
  conditions. the worst travel conditions are expected monday 
  night into tuesday morning...with a significant impact on the 
  tuesday morning commute possible.

* forecaster confidence...low. temperatures will be marginally 
  cold enough for snow. it will only take a small change in 
  expected temperatures to result in big changes to the snowfall 
  forecast. there still remains a wide range of potenial snow 
  accumulations in the watch area.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a winter storm watch means that heavy snow and/or ice
accumulations are possible. if you are within the watch area...
remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.

the national weather service in state college has issued a winter
storm watch...which is in effect from monday afternoon through
tuesday morning.

hazardous weather...

* potential for 6 inches or more of heavy wet snow.

* greatest risk for heavy snow in the higher elevations.  


* hazardous travel on snow covered roads.

* longer commute times monday evening. 

* heavy wet snow may produce localized utility interruptions.
