* locations...southern cayuga...onondaga...madison...cortland... 
  chenango and otsego counties.

* accumulations...total snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches... with
  much of the snowfall occurring early this morning and again
  overnight. the higher terrain in southern onondaga and southern
  madison counties will see the most snowfall.

* impacts...lake effect snow and gusty winds will produce blowing
  and drifting snow which will make travel difficult at times.

* winds...northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* temperatures...in the upper 20s today but dropping into the
  teens overnight. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a lake effect snow advisory means lake-effect snow is forecast
that will make travel difficult in some areas. lake-effect snow
showers typically align themselves in bands and will likely be
intense enough to drop several inches in localized areas. use
caution when traveling.

* accumulations...an additional inch this morning.

* winds...northwest 10 to 20 mph.

* visibilities...a mile at times.

* impacts...lake effect snow will lead to accumulations of snow 
  on area roadways and very poor visibilities at times...
  resulting in difficult travel conditions.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

in lake effect snow the weather can vary from locally heavy snow
in narrow bands to clear skies just a few miles away. if you will
be traveling across the region be prepared for rapid changes in
road and visibility conditions.

  difficult winter driving conditions with poor visibilities.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

in lake effect snow the weather can vary from locally heavy snow
in narrow bands to clear skies just a few miles away. if you will
be traveling across the region be prepared for rapid changes in
road and visibility conditions.

if you lose power and plan on running a generator...make sure
that the generator is located outdoors and is properly
ventilated. space heaters should also be properly ventilated and
used only if they are operating properly. make sure snow does not
block exhausts and fresh air intakes for high efficiency furnaces
and water heaters.
