to 7 am est thursday...
* locations...include eastern and southeastern massachusetts as
well as northern and central rhode island.
* hazard types...snow.
* accumulations...ranging around 3 to 6 inches with a trace of
* timing...rain initially beginning around daybreak changing over
to a wintry mix of snow and sleet by midday into afternoon
before changing to all snow by evening. snow tapers off into
thursday morning.
* impacts...this storm will significantly impact holiday travel
making driving dangerous at times. visibilities in heavy snow
expected to be significantly reduced to one quarter mile or less
at times.
* half mile or less at times.
* winds...north 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a winter weather advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is
forecast to develop in the affected areas...but accumulations are
expected to be light. any snow or ice would result in slippery
conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. when
temperatures are below freezing...motorists need to be especially
careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily

the national weather service in gray has issued a winter weather
advisory for snow...which is in effect from 1 pm wednesday to 7
am est thursday. the winter storm watch is no longer in effect.
* hazard types...snow.
* accumulations...4 to 6 inches of snow.
* timing...snow will begin wednesday afternoon across the northern
mountains. it may become heavier for a time wednesday
evening...before tapering off early thursday.
* impacts...snow will cause slippery road conditions on a very
busy travel day. if travel is necessary...allow for extra time
and plenty of stopping distance between vehicles.
* winds...north 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.
* half mile or less at times.
* the upper 20s.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
