...strong northerly winds developing over southern lake huron
basin this afternoon...
.a cold front passing through the central great lakes this morning
will produce showers and thunderstorms. post-frontal winds this
afternoon into this evening look a bit stronger...in the 15 to 25
knot range...and have issued small craft advisories for
nearshore waters of southern lake huron. winds gradually diminish
tonight into wednesday as high pressure builds across the region.
a period of modest easterly flow looks to develop over lake erie
as low pressure tracks through the ohio valley on thursday.
otherwise...light winds look to continue right into the weekend.

...small craft advisory in effect from noon today to 6 am edt
the national weather service in detroit/pontiac has issued a
small craft advisory...which is in effect from noon today to 6 am
edt wednesday.
* wind and waves: during the small craft advisory...expect
sustained winds up to 24 knots from the north with gusts up
to 28 knots. the largest expected significant waves will be 5
feet with a potential maximum wave height of 7 feet.
* timing: the maximum winds are expected around 3 pm tuesday
with the largest waves expected around 1 am wednesday.
refer to the latest marine forecasts for greater detail.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
