...the flood advisory remains in effect until 730 pm edt thursday for
north central catawba...east central mcdowell...southern alexander...
west central iredell...southeastern caldwell and central burke

at 315 am, significant runoff continues into the upper catawba river 
basin reservoirs from heavy rainfall that fell over the past two 
days. this runoff has caused rises above 100 ft, or full pool, 
resulting in shoreline flooding and flooding of access points around 
the lakes.

this advisory is in effect for the following lakes: lake james, 
rhodhiss, hickory, and lookout shoals. please visit:


for more information on the latest lake levels. additional locations 
where minor flooding could occur include morganton, st. stephens, 
sawmills, granite falls, valdese, bethlehem, drexel, connelly 
springs, rutherford college and glen alpine. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood advisory means river, stream, or reservoir levels are 
elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring 
or is imminent.

please report flood water flowing over roads or threatening property,
or landslides to the national weather service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our facebook page, or tweet
it using hashtag nwsgsp. your message should describe the event and
the specific location where it occurred.
