...flash flood watch remains in effect until 8 am edt this
morning...

the flash flood watch continues for

* a portion of eastern north carolina, including the following
areas, beaufort, carteret, craven, duplin, greene, jones,
  lenoir, onslow, pamlico, and pitt.

* until 8 am edt this morning

* heavy rain will continue into early this morning. the potential
for flash flooding continues, with reported rainfall averaging
between 2 and 5 inches over the last 24 hours, with additional
rainfall expected in the next few hours.

* flash flooding is especially dangerous at night as it is very
difficult to see the depth of water on roads.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

you should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
