...areas of fog will impact the coastal waters tonight...including
charleston harbor and the savannah harbor...
the combination of the large temperature difference between the
cooler waters and the over riding warm and extremely moist air
mass...plus lower stratus clouds will lead to the development of
areas of fog across the southern south carolina and southeast
georgia coastal waters tonight. this includes the charleston and
savannah harbors...as well as other inlets and harbor entrances
along the coast and the intra coastal.
visibility in the fog will be under 2 nm...at times even under 1
nm. if the fog becomes dense and widespread enough then dense
fog advisories would be required.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
mariners are urged to navigate with extreme care. if you must
navigate in these conditions...proceed with caution. use proper
fog signals...including fog horns. make sure all navigational
running lights are on.
please relay any reports of sea fog to the charleston or tybee
island coast guard stations and ask them to immediately forward
your report to the national weather service in charleston.
