the national weather service in portland has issued a gale
warning...which is in effect until 3 pm pst this afternoon. 

* winds...south 25 to 30 kt with gusts to 40 kt decreasing this
  afternoon with maximum gusts of 25 kt expected by late

* seas...23 to 28 ft through late morning subsiding below 20 ft
  early this afternoon...and falling into the 13 to 15 ft range
  wednesday night.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a gale warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. it is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
