* ice accumulation...valley ice accumulation of one to two
tenths...with the highest amounts toward the columbia river
gorge. ridgetop temperatures will be significantly warmer...
so no significant icing is expected in the higher terrain.
* impacts...several days of very cold temperatures will make
ground surfaces like roads and sidewalks very receptive to
ice accumulation. it may take a couple hours of temperatures
above freezing to completely end the freezing rain threat at
any given location. ice accumulation on trees and power
lines may result in downed branches and lines...which would
bring the threat of power outages tuesday.
a freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for
slippery roads. slow down and use caution while driving.
