rip current risk: low risk. marine conditions do not support the
development of rip currents. however, rip currents
are possible, especially near the south padre island
jetty. know how to swim and heed the advice of the
                       beach patrol.

ultraviolet index: very high. wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses,
and use sunscreen of spf 15 or higher. remain in the
                       shade if possible.

weather: partly sunny. isolated showers.

temperatures: highs in the mid 80s.

wind: southeast 10 to 15 mph.

wave heights: 2 to 3 feet.

surf temperature: 81 degrees.

bay temperature: 82 degrees.

tides: a low at 2 38 pm. a high at 12 28 am thursday.

outlook: wave heights will increase slightly overnight
into thursday as southeast winds increase but
the low risk of rip currents is expected to
continue. winds shift northeast friday behind
a cold front. the rip current risk will likely
elevate to moderate behind the front.

service rip current website at www.ripcurrents.noaa.gov.

.outlook (days 3-5)...scattered/numerous showers and thunderstorms are
expected early friday in response to a cold front and an upper
level disturbance. the cold front is expected to move across the
coastline early friday morning...with cooler and drier air
filtering into the area friday afternoon and evening. a moderate
offshore flow will develop in the wake of the cold front by friday
afternoon. moderate offshore flow will continue saturday yet
decrease saturday night as the axis of a surface high pressure
system enters the coast. weak to moderate onshore flow will
develop sunday. no rainfall is expected saturday and sunday.

* a low risk of rip currents means that any rip currents that do
form are likely to be weak but still may pose a danger to poor
swimmers. research has shown rip currents are typically more
frequent in the vicinity of jetties...inlets...and piers and
these can be quite strong on days where the overall rip current
threat is low...especially if strong southerly or northeasterly
  winds exist.

* wave height and period forecasts are representative of deep ocean
waves over the offshore waters...not surf conditions.
