...widespread dense fog expected through this morning north of
san nicolas island...
a shallow marine layer in place will bring widespread dense fog
to the coastal waters...primarily north of san nicolas island
including the santa barbara channel and central coast through
this morning. mariners should be prepared for abrupt visibility
changes down to one nautical mile or less...especially along the
central coast and the santa barbara channel. reduce speeds and be
on the lookout for exposed rocks and other vessels...and use radar
or gps navigation if available.
mariners in harbor...especially those without radar...should
consider remaining in harbor as dense fog can obscure exposed
rocks and other vessels...including large ships in the shipping
lanes.
