* at 929 am mdt...national weather service doppler radar indicated
an area of moderate rain with embedded thunder moving east across
the east central and southeast plains of new mexico. rainfall
amounts will range from one tenth to one half inch...although
spotty higher amounts near one inch are possible across portions
of curry and roosevelt counties. much of this rain will fall on
grounds already saturated from thunderstorms last night. several
roads are already impassable and many more will become inundated
with water between roswell...fort sumner...santa rosa...tucumcari
and clovis.
* strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos...small
streams and over low water crossings.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

.the final two forecast points above flood stage within the souris
river basin are the souris river near westhope and willow creek near
willow city. not enough precipitation is in the current forecast to
change the current downward trend. willow creek is likely to fall
below flood stage over the coming weekend while the souris river near
westhope will remain above flood stage well into august.

week of august even with the current favorable weather conditions.
