...the flood warning remains in effect until 715 am edt saturday for
areas around small creeks and streams across crisp county...
at 1045 pm edt... national weather service radars estimated that 2.5
to 3.0 inches of rain had fallen over much of crisp county over the
past 24 hours. another one half to three quarters of an inch of rain
is possible overnight and minor flooding is likely.
some streams and creeks affected include... gum... cedar...
limestone... deep and lime. several roads near these creeks
will have shallow flooding through early saturday morning.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. it is very difficult at night to tell how much
water is on roads.
do not attempt to cross water of unknown depth...on foot or in an
automobile. do not drive around barricades...most flood deaths occur
in automobiles. do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water
begins rising.

* until 445 pm pdt april 24.
* flooding continues on the north fork of the stillaguamish river
upstream of the sr 530 slide due to debris from the state route
530 slide partially blocking the river and the resulting pooling
of water behind the debris dam. we will be updating the flood
warning on a day to day basis.

* the pool elevation is forecast to fall to 284.5 feet by late
saturday afternoon...then rise to 285.2 feet midday sunday. there
continues to be a great amount of uncertainty in the forecast pool
elevation due in part to limited knowledge of how much water the new
stream channel through the slide debris will be able to convey.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a flood warning means flooding is occurring or imminent. most flood
related deaths occur in automobiles. do not attempt to cross water
covered bridges...dips...or low water crossings. never try to cross a
flowing stream...even a small one...on foot. to escape rising water
move up to higher ground.
