...the flood warning continues for the following rivers in north
dakota...
souris river near foxholm affecting ward county
souris river near towner affecting mchenry county
souris river near bantry affecting mchenry county
souris river near westhope affecting bottineau county
for the souris river basin including foxholm...towner...bantry...
westhope...moderate flooding is occurring.

. lake darling continues to pass excess flow in the souris river
as it is already above its desired summer pool. a fairly active
weather pattern will be bringing thunderstorms over the souris
river basin through the upcoming weekend. heavy rains are
possible which would enhance runoff. at this time the potential
for the highest rainfall amounts are across the souris river
basin of canada. in general this is not expected to worsen
current flood conditions. however...it is likely to extend the
current discharge rate from lake darling.

the current level of release from lake darling produces minor
flooding along the souris river immediately below lake darling
to just above the gage at minot 4 nw. farther downstream...from
minot through velva...the water level is below flood stage and
continues to fall as local runoff decreases. from towner to
bantry...water levels are falling but remain well above flood
stage. near westhope...the souris continues to rise and is
expected to crest around 21 june.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...do not drive into areas where water tops the
roadway. turn around...don't drown. avoid driving on flooded roads.

dorchester sc-charleston sc-berkeley sc-
341 pm edt wed jun 19 2013

the national weather service in charleston has issued a

* flood advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in...
south central berkeley county in southeast south carolina...
charleston county in southeast south carolina...
southeastern dorchester county in southeast south carolina...

* until 530 pm edt

* at 340 pm edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated
widespread showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall
across much of charleston...south central berkeley and
southeastern dorchester counties. this area of showers and
thunderstorms is generally moving southeast around 15 mph and
will affect the charleston metropolitan area for the start of
rush hour. in addition...high tide in downtown charleston will
occur around 507 pm and could worsen the flooding situation in
  parts of downtown charleston.

radar estimates rainfall rates as high as 1 to 2 inches per hour
with these showers and thunderstorms. rainfall rates this high
could result in flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas
and cause significant ponding of water on roadways.

* locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  downtown charleston...mount pleasant...north charleston...west
  ashley...awendaw...summerville...daniel island and goose creek.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

due to the heavy rainfall occurring within a few hours of high
tide...minor flooding is likely in coastal locations. be especially
cautious when traveling through low-lying areas near the coast.

heavy rain in downtown charleston will result in nuisance flooding of
low-lying areas. areas most prone to flooding include the market...
crosstown...east bay street...and morrison drive. slow down when
traveling...allow extra distance between you and the vehicle ahead...
and do not drive into water of unknown depth.

the national weather service in anchorage has extended the

* flood advisory for melting snow in...
matanuska valley along the matanuska river near sutton and near
  maud road (butte area)

* until 500 pm akdt thursday

* high temperatures over the past several days have brought the
level of the matanuska river to the point where it caused erosion
and flooding last year. levels are expected to continue to rise
through midweek before temperatures moderate and levels start to
fall.

expected impacts:
a channel shift in the matanuska river has resulted in flooding and
erosion occurring at lower levels than in the past. residents in the
areas close to the river that experienced flooding and significant
bank erosion should be prepared to move belongings to higher ground
and to retreat to safer locations if flooding begins.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. move to higher ground.

a flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
