* at 536 pm mdt national weather service doppler radar indicated
heavy rain located between state road 20 and the pecos river
south of fort sumner. rainfall rates of one inch or more in
less than one hour were indicated by radar. some locations
impacted include yeso creek...alamo draw...mesita negra...
and eighteen mile hill.
* strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos...small
streams and over low water crossings.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the

southern hidalgo county in deep south texas.
this includes the cities of...san juan...pharr...mission...mcallen

* at 658 pm cdt...national weather service meteorologists indicated
rainfall rates of two inches per hour from a thunderstorm over the
advised area.
since 650 pm cdt...the mcallen airport has received 0.48 inches of
rainfall. additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches in the next hour are
possible for the mcallen and mission areas.

recent heavy rains led to a quick rise in the double mountain fork of the brazos river located near justiceburg yesterday. the river crested thursday evening at 12.7 feet and has fallen steadily since then to 7.7 feet as of 9 am this morning. this falling trend is forecast to continue. however...additional heavy rainfall will be possible through the weekend and could lead to additional rises over the coming days. continue to monitor the forecast for the latest information.
