...isolated patches of mixed light freezing rain...snow and sleet
to affect the region through the overnight...
a series of diffuse and fast moving upper level systems will
produce areas of very light mixed precipitation through this
friday evening and overnight. while very little of this wintry
mix is forecast to accumulate...sidewalks and other surfaces are
below freezing due to the recent cold weather.
therefore any wintry mixture that falls may result in some
slippery spots. this will be especially true on lesser traveled
walkways...side roads and the like.
a slow moving warm front will gradually shift the focus from the
southern red river valley into the northern red river valley this
evening and overnight. by the late overnight into saturday
morning the best risk for this wintry mix will generally be along
and north of the highway 200 corridor.
as is always the case during this holiday season check ahead for
the latest forecast and travel conditions before setting out.

mixed precipitation may result in locally slippery conditions on
untreated roads...sidewalks and parking lots.
motorists should expect locally hazardous driving conditions
overnight. be sure to slow down and and allow extra time to reach
your destination.

...hazardous conditions due to snow showers overnight...
scattered snow showers will move southeast through portions of
western maryland...the eastern west virginia panhandle and the
northern shenandoah valley of virginia overnight.
while not everywhere will see snow...those areas that do may
experience a moderate to heavy burst of snow that rapidly reduces
visibility to one half mile or less and also produces a fresh
coating to half inch of snow accumulation. '
the rapid reduction of visibility will create hazardous driving
conditions under these snow showers. with temperatures below
freezing...slick conditions may also develop especially on
untreated roadways. use extra caution if traveling overnight.
