...ponding of water and rising water levels into sunday...
...moderate snow possible over portions of west and north central
upper michigan sunday into sunday night...

as an area of low pressure moves through upper michigan on sunday,
widespread moderate to occasionally heavy rain is expected to
impact the area tonight with additional precipitation wrapping
behind the system sunday into sunday night. in total, 1 to 2
inches of precipitation, mainly in the form of rain, is expected
across western upper michigan and across the higher terrain.
elsewhere 0.5 to 1 inches of rain is expected. this will lead to
ponding of water in low-lying and poor drainage areas as well as
a rise in local rivers and streams.

as the area of low pressure moves east of the area on sunday
afternoon, rain will begin to change over to a wet snow across
western upper michigan and especially the higher terrain. several
inches of wet snow accumulation is possible over the higher
terrain of western upper michigan on sunday. moderate wet snow
accumulation of several inches will also be possible sunday night
into early monday over portions of north central upper michigan,
mainly from the higher terrain of the huron mountains and
michigamme highlands through negaunee to gwinn.

the public is urged to monitor local hydrologic responses and
keep watch for any localized flooding. also, if planning any
travel sunday into sunday night be advised that roads could become
snow-covered and slippery due to wet and slushy snow, especially
over the higher terrain of west and north central upper michigan.
