...flood watch remains in effect through this afternoon...
the flood watch continues for
* a portion of western new york...including the following
livingston...monroe...niagara...northern erie...ontario...
orleans...southern erie...wayne and wyoming.
* through this afternoon.
* an area of low pressure and a potent upper level disturbance
will cross the region through this afternoon. this storm system
has the potential to produce locally heavy rainfall across
portions of western new york with 2 to 3 inches of rain possible
in some locations where heavy rain persists the longest.
* excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may produce flooding in
poor drainage and low lying areas. if more widespread rainfall
amounts reach 2 inches flooding will also be possible along
some of the area rivers and creeks.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. you should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. stay tuned to weather radio or other radio and tv
stations for further details or updates

...flash flood watch remains in effect until 4 pm edt this
the flash flood watch continues for
* portions of northeast ohio and northwest pennsylvania...
including the following northeast ohio...ashtabula
inland...ashtabula lakeshore...cuyahoga...geauga...lake and
trumbull. in northwest pennsylvania...crawford pa...northern
erie and southern erie.
* until 4 pm edt this afternoon
* an upper level trough will remain in place over the great lakes
today as a piece of jet energy rotates through it. as cooler air
aloft moves over the relatively warm waters of lake erie it will
help to enhance the rainfall that develops. if a band of showers
and thunderstorms can set up over a region it could lead to
flooding. most locations will only see an additional quarter to
half an inch with locally higher amounts possible.
* excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may produce flooding in
poor drainage and low lying areas.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a flash flood watch means the threat of flash flooding exists
along rivers and creeks. if you are in the watch area you should
monitor weather conditions closely. be ready to move to higher
ground if flooding is observed or a warning is issued. stay tuned
to weather radio for further updates.
