* waves/seas...west 13 to 14 feet around 14 seconds today building
  to 15 to 18 feet around 15 seconds tonight and friday. building
  to 24 feet or higher around 18 seconds by friday night.

a hazardous seas warning means hazardous sea conditions are
imminent or occurring. recreational boaters should remain in
port...or take shelter until waves subside.  commercial vessels
should prepare for rough seas and consider remaining in port or

the national weather service in medford has issued a small craft
advisory for hazardous seas...which is in effect from 10 pm this
evening to 4 pm pst thursday. 

* winds...south winds of 35 to 50 kt with storm force gusts of 60
  kt this morning into early this afternoon. winds will gradually
  lower during the afternoon from west to east across the waters.
  south to southwest winds of 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt
  are expected by mid afternoon. winds will then lower below 25
  kt this evening.

* seas...wind driven and extremely high and very steep seas of 18 to
  25 feet this morning into this afternoon. seas will remain very
  steep around 18 ft into the early evening then will lower to
  steep seas of around 15 feet tonight and thursday. very steep
  wind driven seas may develop again thursday night into friday
  morning...followed very steep and extremely high westerly swell
  dominated seas late friday into saturday.

* areas affected and timing...all areas will experience extremely
  hazardous conditions today. the strongest winds and steepest
  seas will occur as the front moves into the coast this morning
  into early this afternoon. storm force conditions are expected
  between 5 nm to 40 nm from shore and within 5 nm of shore from
  charleston to gold beach. gales are expected elsewhere.
  hazardous seas will impact all areas through early this evening
  then seas hazardous to small craft will impact all areas.
