* a portion of central california...including the following 
  areas...kern county mountains...mariposa, madera, and fresno 
  county foothills...tulare county foothills and tulare county 
  mountains. 

* through this evening

* periods of heavy rain over the lower elevations of the sierra
  foothills and kern county mountains. rainfall total amounts of 1
  to 2.5 inches will be likely over the west and north facing
  mountain slopes. snow levels are expected to rise today
  resulting in additional runoff from snow melt.

* landslides and rockslides are very common during intense rain 
  events and could lead to road closures.

* flash flood watch to include ventura and los angeles counties
  in southwest california.

* through 6 pm pst monday.

* periods of heavy rain with peak rainfall rates of 0.50 to 1.00
  inches per hour are possible. this could generate flash flooding
  and or mud and debris flows...especially in and around recent
  burn areas.

* landslides and rockslides are very common during intense rain 
  events and could lead to road closures.

...flash flood watch remains in effect for the entire san
francisco bay area and central coast though monday evening...

.a cold front pushed through the region early sunday morning
brining periods of moderate to heavy rainfall. the area is now in
the unstable post frontal environment. showers and
thunderstorms are anticipated to move inland this afternoon before
strengthening into this evening. additional showers and
thunderstorms will move through the area tonight and through
monday. this additional rainfall on already saturated soils and
full reservoirs will likely lead to flash flooding of area streams
and rivers as well as localized urban areas. mud/rock slides and
downed trees should also be expected... especially during intense
bursts of rainfall that occur during thunderstorms.

  areas...coachella valley...san diego county coastal areas...san
  diego county deserts...san diego county mountains and san diego
  county valleys.

* from this afternoon through monday evening

* heavy rain will occur at times from mid afternoon through early
  evening today. periods of showers...some with heavy rainfall
  will follow for tonight through monday...mainly below 4000 to
  4500 feet. rainfall rates could locally reach or exceed one inch
  per hour. this will bring a risk of flash flooding. heavy rains
  over recent burn scars could result in debris flows and mud
  slides. in the mountains...a warmer air mass this afternoon and
  early evening will result in rising snow levels and melting of
  snow which will increase the risk of flooding.

  nevada...lincoln county and northeast clark county.

* widespread rainfall is possible sunday evening into monday. 
  this could lead to flooding issues across the area. 

* the combination of already wet soils and moderate to heavy 
  rainfall could lead to excessive runoff. flooding of small 
  streams...normally dry washes...and low water crossings is 
  possible. most likely waterways impacted include the smaller 
  tributaries feeding into the muddy river...virgin river and 
  beaver dam wash.
