...areas of snow and rain falling across portions of the western
and central midlands this morning...
a very cold pool of air moves across the western and central
midlands this morning the rain will mix with and at times briefly
change to snow through 9 am. temperatures across the area this
morning range from the middle 30s to lower 40s. soil temperatures
are in the lower to middle 60s so little to no accumulation is
expected...except on grassy areas and elevated surfaces such as
trees...bushes and railings.
please report any snow or accumulations to the national weather
service or your local law enforcement. you can also use
www.facebook.com/nwscolumbia and email caewx@noaa.gov to relay
weather reports.

...a strong thunderstorm will move across brunswick...new hanover and
pender counties through 730 am edt...
at 623 am edt...doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over
southport...or about 8 miles southwest of carolina beach...moving
north at 35 mph.
some locations impacted include burgaw...carolina beach...leland...
wilmington...ashton...bayshore...bishop...boiling spring lakes...
castle hayne...edgecomb...hampstead and long beach.
hazards include...
pea size hail.
gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph.
frequent cloud to ground lightning.
thunderstorms can pose a variety of threats including gusty winds...
small hail...cloud to ground lightning...and localized flooding. it
is recommended that you remain indoors until the storms pass.
