  calhoun and richland counties.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. all 
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

  the congaree river at congaree national park-gadsden.
* until saturday evening.
* at 7:00 pm est friday the stage was 15.2 feet.
* flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring.
* forecast...the river will continue to gradually fall this evening 
  and fall below flood stage late tonight.
* impact...at 15.0 feet, flooding begins in the congaree national 
  park. this will also impact portions of the lower boardwalk.

  the great pee dee river at pee dee.
* until late monday night.
* at 9:00 am est saturday the stage was 20.5 feet.
* flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* recent activity...the maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending 
  at 9:00 am est saturday was 20.6 feet.
* forecast...the river is expected to fall below flood stage monday 
  afternoon and continue falling to 18.5 feet thursday morning.
* impact...at 20.0 feet, flood waters will affect swamplands and 
  logging interests. flood waters will affect timberland as far 
  downstream as yauhannah two weeks after the crest passes pee dee. 
  logging equipment needs to be moved.
* flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 20.5 
  feet on 03/22/1956.
