...gale watch in effect from tuesday morning through tuesday
afternoon...

the national weather service in mount holly has issued a gale
watch, which is in effect from tuesday morning through tuesday
afternoon.

* location...the delaware and new jersey coastal waters.

* winds...southwest 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 40 kt.

* seas...5 to 8 feet.

* timing...the strongest winds are expected tuesday morning.

* outlook...tuesday afternoon, a cold front will bring an abrupt
  shift to westerly winds of 15 to 20 kt with gusts near 30 kt. a
  prolonged period of small craft advisory conditions is likely to
  continue through at least wednesday.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased...but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. it is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.
