...elevated fire weather potential this weekend...

the prolonged dry weather across western new england has resulted
in very low live and dead fuel moisture. with low relative
humidity and gusty winds saturday, any fires which escape initial
containment and become established, could potentially become
serious.

winds are not expected to be as strong sunday, but it will still
remain quite dry.

consult your local fire warden if planning any outdoor burning
this weekend.

...enhanced risk of fire spread this weekend....

strengthening high pressure building into the area this weekend
will result in a dry airmass and northeast winds gusting up to 20
mph at times. this combined with low fuel moisture and relative
humidity values around 30 percent each afternoon will aid fire
spread should ignition occur.

listen to noaa all hazards weather radio or visit our web site at
http://weather.gov/nyc for further details or updates.
