...flood watch remains in effect through this evening...

the flood watch continues for

* portions of new york and southern vermont, including the
following areas, in new york, hamilton, montgomery, northern
fulton, northern herkimer, northern saratoga, northern warren,
northern washington, southeast warren, southern fulton,
southern herkimer, and southern washington. in southern
vermont, bennington, eastern windham, and western windham.

* through this evening

* a strong cold front moved across the region yesterday with heavy
rainfall from showers and thunderstorms that ranged from a half
an inch to an inch and a half. the combination of the rain and
snow melt the past few days enhanced runoff into area rivers,
resulting in minor flooding. additional flooding is also
possible on small streams, creeks and rivers due to the
excessive runoff. the rivers are expected to crest this
  afternoon into early this evening.

* areas of the western mohawk valley, the upper hudson, the
southern adirondacks, lake george saratoga region and southern
vermont will continue to be the most vulnerable for minor
  flooding.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

...flood watch remains in effect through this evening...

the flood watch continues for

* portions of maine and new hampshire, including the following
areas, in maine, androscoggin, central and southern somerset,
kennebec, franklin, and oxford. in new hampshire, belknap,
cheshire, hillsborough, merrimack, carroll, coos, grafton, and
  sullivan.

* through this evening.

* recent warm temperatures have generated significant melting of
snowpack. this melting combined with recent rainfall will result
in elevated water levels on area rivers and streams. the
elevated water levels is causing ice breakup and movement.

* the primary flood threat today will be from ice jam related
flooding. ice jams both form and dissolve rapidly, and may form
at any time with little if any advance warning.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

you should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
