...beach hazards statement remains in effect until 8 pm edt this
evening...
...high rip current risk remains in effect until 8 pm edt this
evening...

evening...

* location...for the beach hazards statement, ocean side of the
virginia eastern shore. for the coastal flood statement, bay

* timing...for the beach hazards statement, until 8 pm edt this
evening. for the coastal flood statement, from 8 pm this
evening to 2 am edt monday.

* coastal flood impacts...up to one half foot of inundation above
ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and
  tidal waterways.

* surf or rip current risk...there is a high risk of rip
currents adjacent to the atlantic ocean. large breaking waves
of 3 to 4 feet will result in dangerous surf conditions. do
not enter or approach the water due to the risk of being swept
  away.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents...longshore currents...sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. caution
should be used when in or near the water.

there is a high risk of rip currents.

rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore...which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and
signs.

if you become caught in a rip current...relax and float. don't

...coastal flood advisory now in effect until 4 am edt monday...
...beach hazards statement remains in effect until 8 pm edt this
evening...
...high rip current risk remains in effect until 8 pm edt this
evening...

* location...ocean side of currituck county north carolina for the
beach hazards statement. sound side for the coastal flood
  advisory.

* timing...for the coastal flood advisory, until 4 am edt
monday. for the beach hazards statement, until 8 pm edt this
evening. for the high rip current risk, until 8 pm edt this
  evening.

* coastal flood impacts...up to one foot of inundation above
ground level is possible in low-lying areas near the sound
and waterways. shallow flooding is expected in the most
vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline
resulting in a low threat of property damage. some roads and
low lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns
near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

* surf or rip current risk...there is a high risk of rip
currents. large breaking waves of 3 to 4 feet will result in
dangerous surf conditions. do not enter or approach the water
due to the risk of being swept away.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a coastal flood advisory means that onshore winds...wave action

the shore...and near tidal rivers and creeks. be prepared for the
possibility of road closures and minor flooding of properties. if
travel is necessary...do not attempt to drive through water of
unknown depth.

a beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents...longshore currents...sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. caution
should be used when in or near the water.

there is a high risk of rip currents.

rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore...which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. heed the advice of lifeguards...beach patrol flags and
