...the st marys river system is closed to vessel navigation...

the united states coast guard in sault ste marie has closed the st
marys river system due to dense fog. the river system is closed from
the locks to nine mile. another statement will be issued once the
river system is re-opened to vessel navigation.

dense fog was reducing visibilities to below 1/4 mile. reduce your
speed and keep a lookout for other vessels...buoys and breakwaters.
keep your navigation lights on. if not equipped with radar...consider
seeking safe harbor if possible.

...widespread gale force winds and large seas possible on tuesday
and wednesday...

a storm system will sweep across northern california tonight through
tuesday. while little to no rain is expected across central and
southern california... there is moderate confidence in widespread
gale force winds developing across the coastal waters from tuesday
afternoon through wednesday. widespread large seas between 8 and
14 feet are also possible.

mariners should pay close attention to this developing weather
event and prepare to remain in safe harbor if necessary.
