the national weather service in austin san antonio has issued a
* flash flood warning for...
comal county in south central texas...
this includes the cities of...new braunfels...canyon lake dam...
western guadalupe county in south central texas...
* until 1115 pm cst
* at 806 pm cst...national weather service meteorologists have
determined that thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall will
result in flash flooding across much of comal and western
guadalupe counties. the heavy rains received earlier today along
with an additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall will make rapid flash
* locations in the warning include but are not limited to spring
branch...new braunfels...smithson valley and interstate 35.
excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams...highways and underpasses. additionally...country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks...streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.
be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. if flash flooding is observed act quickly. move
up to higher ground to escape flood waters. do not stay in areas
subject to flooding when water begins rising.
do not underestimate the power of flood waters. only a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
