...airport weather warning for winter storm warning...
freezing rain onset around 6 pm. transition to sleet around 9 pm.
sleet is expected to transition over to snow around 2 am. precip
ending by 4 am.
freezing rain may result in ice accumulation of around 1/10 of an
inch this evening. heaviest activity will be from 9 pm to
2 am when sleet accumulation may exceed one inch. thunderstorms
embedded within the sleet showers are most likely between 11 pm
and 1 am. thunderstorms/thundersleet are expected to produce the
quickest sleet accumulations.
.time/s/ temperature falls below /rises above/ freezing...
temp falls to 32f around 6 pm...rises above freezing early
thursday afternoon. more significant accumulation would delay
.precip rates gte one half inch an hour onset/duration...
water equivalent rates not expected to exceed 1/2 inch per
hour...but sleet showers/thunderstorms could result in
accumulation exceeding 1/2 inch per hour.
initial icing will be on elevated surfaces...but bursts of sleet
will collect on main road surfaces as temperatures fall into the
20s. isolated embedded thunderstorms could pose a temporary
lightning threat to ramp personnel and skylink.
