...winter weather advisory in effect from 10 am to 10 pm cdt
the national weather service in chicago has issued a winter
weather advisory for strong winds and the potential for snow
accumulations...which is in effect from 10 am to 10 pm cdt
* winds...up to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph expected by
early friday afternoon. even stronger winds up around 55 mph are
likely near lake michigan.
* snow...there is a threat for some heavy bursts of lake effect
snow showers friday afternoon and evening. this could result in
some isolated snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches...mainly on
grassy and elevated surfaces.
* main impact...strong northerly winds combined with the threat
for some heavy snowfall could limit visibilities under a mile and
make travel hazardous across the area.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a winter weather advisory for strong winds and lake effect snow
means that visibilities will be limited due to a combination of
the blowing and falling snow. use caution when traveling...especially
in open areas.
