big island summits-
including the city of...mauna loa and mauna kea above 8000 feet
749 pm hst tue dec 6 2016

...winter weather advisory remains in effect from 6 pm wednesday
to 6 am hst friday...

* locations...big island summits above 12000 feet

* hazard types...ice...snow and freezing drizzle.

* accumulations...total snow accumulation up to 6 inches...and
  ice accumulation up to a quarter of an inch.

* timing...wednesday night through early friday morning.

* impacts...these conditions will make driving and hiking and
  camping in the area very hazardous.

* winds...southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

* temperatures...lows in the low 30s...and highs near 40. 

* visibilities...below one quarter mile at times.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
driving.

avoid travel to the summits until conditions improve. if you are
camping in the area...consider moving to a lower elevation.
