...record breaking heat expected for inland areas today and
wednesday...
a strong ridge of high pressure positioned over the western states
will support a rapid rise in temperatures today especially in the
north bay...east bay and santa clara valley. temperatures in these
areas are expected to warm into the upper 90s to 108. overnight
low temperatures will dip into the low to mid 60s but will provide
little relief from the heat. a gentle sea breeze will help to
maintain comfortable temperatures along the coast and in the san
francisco bay area.

the national weather service in san francisco has issued a heat
advisory...which is in effect until 9 pm pdt wednesday.
* locations: the north bay area...the east bay area and the santa
clara valley.
* timing: temperatures will rise rapidly today peaking in the
afternoon hours. overnight temperatures will cool into the low
to mid 60s but will rise quickly once again on
wednesday...peaking in the afternoon.
* temperatures: inland highs are expected to reach the upper 90s
to 108.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
