the national weather service in los angeles/oxnard has issued a
gale watch...which is in effect from saturday morning through
* winds and seas...west and northwest winds will increase with
possible gusts to 35 to 40 kt saturday morning and possibly
persist through sunday morning. very steep seas will develop and
possibly build to up to 10 feet saturday evening.
a gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased...but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. it is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.

craft advisory...which is in effect from 8 am saturday to 3 am
* winds: northwest winds 15 to 25 kt can be expected saturday
morning through at least saturday night.
* seas: steep fresh swell is expected to accompany the
a small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.

vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
