We're curious: Are you a windsurfer or a kiter?
I'm a windsurfer.
I'm a kiter.

SFO Overview
Although not a sailing spot itself, the SFO sensor can be a very good indicator for Oyster Point, Flying Tigers, Embassy Suites, Coyote Point, Third Avenue, and other Peninsula sites.

Sensor Notes
Data from this station is courtesy of the National Weather Service (NWS). The data is from a National Weather Service sensor which updates only once per hour. The top-of-the-hour reading is repeated every fifteen minutes. This is the most useful NWS sensor when combined with the iwindsurf.com Coyote sensor. It provides useful information for Flying Tigers, Oyster Pt. Coyote, 3rd and Embassy Suites. The sensor is located on the control tower at SFO airport. Because of its height it has winds much stronger than at the launch sites. However this means that its reading is a better indicator of the wind in the outer waters than the iwindsurf.com sensor. Use the iwindsurf.com sensor to see if there is good wind near the beach and the SFO sensor to see what the wind is like in the outer sailing area. This sensor is most useful for spring and early summer winds. Since this sensor is fairly close to Flying Tigers you can use if for that sailing site. Often the SFO sensor will have SW winds in the AM in the summer from local sea breeze. This wind should die by mid morning. If there is deep fog and SW winds at noon and the San Carlos sensor has SW winds then the Peninsula is not likely to have good sailing.
