...winter weather advisory in effect from 5 am to 4 pm pst
friday for the western columbia river gorge...
the national weather service in portland has issued a winter
weather advisory for snow and possible brief freezing rain...which
is in effect from 5 am to 4 pm pst friday.
* timing...light precipitation is expected to begin by sunrise
friday and continue through the mid day period
friday...decreasing late friday afternoon or early friday
evening. the precipitation will generally be snow east of
multnomah falls...with a possible brief period of freezing rain
near the beginning of the precipitation. expect rain or snow
west of multnomah falls.
* accumulations...1 to 2 inches of snow are possible. ice
accumulations should be light...just a trace to less than a
tenth of an inch.
* wind...east winds will increase tonight to 25 to 35 mph with
gusts to 50 mph...causing blowing and drifting of snow.
* impacts...the light snow and any possible ice will cause travel
difficulties along interstate 84 in oregon and state route 14 in
a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
