saturday...

the national weather service in fort worth has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect from 1 pm this afternoon to 8 pm cdt
saturday. 

* temperature...daily max temperatures will range between 96 and 
  100 degrees.

* heat index...daily max heat index values will range between 105
  and 107 degrees.

* impacts...individuals and pets outdoors during peak heating
  without adequate shade and/or water may succumb to heat
  exhaustion or heat stroke.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

be sure to check on persons with health problems and the 
elderly...as they are the most susceptible to heat exhaustion and 
heat stroke. never leave young children or pets in an enclosed 
vehicle...even for a short time...as temperatures can quickly rise
to life threatening levels. 

take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.  when
possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

the national weather service in norman has issued a heat
advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 8 pm cdt friday. 

* temperature...afternoon highs will range from the mid 90s to low
  100s today and friday. these temperatures combined with humid
  air will likely result in heat index values ranging from 105 to
  108 in the afternoon and early evening hours.

* impacts...heat exhaustion and heat stroke are possible for those
  individuals working or playing outside.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

   take extra precautions, if you work or spend time outside.
when possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

   to reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety
and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. anyone overcome
by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.   heat
stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

  friday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid and 
  upper 90s each day. when combined with the humidity, heat

* timing...heat indices of 105 degrees or higher can be expected
  around lunchtime today and friday. only limited cooling is
  expected tonight as temperatures fall into the mid 70s.
 
* impact...heat related illnesses may be possible for those

  continue each afternoon through at least friday across eastern 
  oklahoma and northwest arkansas. the temperatures, combined with

  the 105 to 110 degree range. overnight temperatures will provide
  little relief from the heat, especially in the more urban 
  areas.
