...maximum heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees inclusive
this afternoon over much of south texas...

the combination of hot temperatures and near surface moisture will
result in heat index values increasing to a maximum of 105 to 109
degrees over much of south texas this afternoon. heat index values
may reach 110 degrees...for less than 2 hours duration...over some
locations. conditions will improve this evening as temperatures
begin to decrease.

residents with outdoor activities planned are urged to drink
plenty of water...wear light weight and light colored
clothing...and take frequent breaks from the heat. young children
and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. this is especially true during warm or hot weather
when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of
minutes.

stay tuned to noaa weather radio...commercial radio or television
for the latest weather information regarding this event.
