the flash flood watch continues for

* a portion of south texas, including the following areas, calhoun 
  islands, coastal calhoun, inland calhoun and victoria.

* through this evening

* low-lying and poorly draining areas, as well as urban 
  locations could experience flooding. heavy rainfall in a short 
  period of time could cause creeks and small streams to 
  overflow. a flash flood watch means that conditions may 
  develop that lead to flash flooding. flash flooding is a very 
  dangerous situation. please monitor later forecasts and be 
  prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

the flash flood watch continues for

* a portion of south central texas, including the following areas, 
  de witt and lavaca.

* through this evening

* rainbands from tropical storm beta will continue to impact parts 
  of south central texas overnight and through the day today. storm 
  total rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible in the 
  flash flood watch area, with localized higher totals possible.

* low-lying and poorly draining areas, as well as urban locations 
  could experience flooding. heavy rainfall in a short period of 
  time could cause creeks and small streams to overflow.

do not enter or cross or drive through flowing water or water of 
unknown depth. turn around, don't drown if you encounter a flooded

...very dangerous flash flood threat developing this morning from
southern harris to northern brazoria to northern galveston counties...

the flash flood watch continues for

* portions of south central texas and southeast texas... 
  including the following counties...in south central texas... 
  coastal jackson and inland jackson. in southeast texas... 
  austin...brazoria islands...chambers...coastal brazoria... 
  coastal galveston...coastal harris...coastal matagorda... 
  colorado...fort bend...galveston island and bolivar 
  peninsula...inland brazoria...inland galveston...inland 
  harris...inland matagorda...matagorda islands...montgomery... 
  northern liberty...southern liberty...waller and wharton. 

* through wednesday morning

* due to the slow movement of tropical storm beta...prolonged 
  heavy rainfall will have the potential to produce additional 
  rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches with isolated amounts around 
  15 inches through wednesday morning. the threat of flooding 
  along the coast is also increased due to storm surge 
  potentially reducing the ability of rainfall to drain. periods 
  of heavy rainfall will be possible through wednesday morning. 

* this prolonged period of rainfall will have the potential to 
  produce life-threatening street and structure flooding, 
  especially from southern harris county to northern brazoria 
  county and northern galveston county where heavy rainfall and 
  associated flash flooding occurred monday evening.

* portions of louisiana and southeast texas, including the 
  following areas, in louisiana, acadia, allen, beauregard, 
  calcasieu, east cameron, evangeline, iberia, jefferson davis, 
  lafayette, lower st. martin, st. landry, st. mary, upper st. 
  martin, vermilion, and west cameron. in southeast texas, 
  hardin, jefferson, orange, southern jasper, and southern 
  newton. 

* through wednesday evening

* a prolonged period of wet weather associated with tropical 
  storm beta will lead to storm total rainfall of 4 to 6 inches 
  with locally higher amounts through wednesday evening. 

* heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in the areas that 
  receive the heaviest rainfall.
