the national weather service in greenville-spartanburg has issued an
* urban and small stream flood advisory for heavy rainfall in...
southern mecklenburg county in the piedmont of north carolina...
union county in the piedmont of north carolina...
* until 1130 pm edt
* at 935 pm edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the advisory area. doppler
radar estimated up to 2 inches have fallen within the last
hour...with large slow moving storms still in the area.
* runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur...especially along small streams and near low water
crossings. some locations that will experience minor flooding
include...center city charlotte...monroe...eastland mall...
fairview...freedom park...hemby bridge...lake park...marshville...
marvin...matthews...mcalpine creek park...mineral springs...mint
hill...pineville...southpark mall...stallings...starmount...steele
creek...the arboretum...the plaza...unionville...waxhaw...wesley
chapel and wingate.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small
creeks and streams...urban areas...highways...streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. if flooding is observed act quickly. do not
drive through areas where water covers the roadway.
do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
