the national weather service in greenville-spartanburg has issued an

* urban and small stream flood advisory for heavy rainfall in...
  eastern cabarrus county in the piedmont of north carolina...

* until 830 pm edt

* at 544 pm edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated an
  area of light to moderate rainfall across the advisory area.       
  doppler radar estimated that approximately 2 to 3 inches of rain   
  has fallen in the last 18 hours with an additional inch possible   
  over the next 12 hours.  

* runoff from this rainfall will cause minor flooding to occur...
  especially along small streams and near low water crossings. some
  locations that will experience minor flooding include...midland and
  mount pleasant.

multiple reports have been received via social media of various 
flooded roadways in eastern cabarrus county such as bowman barrier 
road. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

  highway 221 bridge. the water covers the low portion and entrance 
  of towns bluff lane by the bridge.the public boat ramp is under two
  feet of water. flood waters expand further into south montgomery 
  county around 1.5 miles upstream from the gage. the water will be 
  one to two feet deep over portions ofthree rivers lane...altamaha 
  river road and ogle sandbar road.
* impact...at 13.0 feet...minor flooding occurs in the woodlands along

  the bridge. flood waters expand in low lying areas in south
