...winter weather advisory remains in effect from 4 pm this
afternoon to 7 am est tuesday...

* locations...east slopes of the berkshires in western
  massachusetts...the higher elevations of northern worcester
  county...and extreme northwest hartford county.

* hazard types...freezing rain...sleet...and snow.

* accumulations...snow/sleet accumulation of 1 to 4 inches. a
  tenth to a quarter inch of ice accretion is possible across
  the high terrain along the east slopes of the berkshires and
  northern worcester hills.

* timing...while some light snow showers...sleet and pockets of
  freezing drizzle will be possible through late afternoon.
  heavier precipitation in the form of sleet and/or snow will
  develop between 5 and 8 pm this evening and potentially impact
  the evening rush hour. precipitation should transition to over
  freezing rain by daybreak tuesday and continue at times into
  the afternoon.

* impacts...untreated roads and walkways will be slippery
  especially this evening into tuesday morning. there is a low
  risk that enough ice accretion may occur to result in isolated
  power outages.

* winds...northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
driving.
