the national weather service in albany has extended the

* flood warning for...
  southwestern litchfield county in northern connecticut...

* until 130 pm est saturday

* at 1107 am est, emergency management reported flooding continuing 
  along the housatonic river at kent due to an ice jam. route 7 in 
  kent remains closed between route 341 and bulls bridge. 
  schaghticoke road and river road also remain closed.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. all
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

...observed flooding changed from minor to moderate severity for the 
following rivers in connecticut...
  connecticut river at middle haddam affecting middlesex county

high pressure will bring dry conditions through this weekend. river 
levels will continue to slowly recede over the next 24 to 48 hours. 
the connecticut river at middle haddam continues to be above flood 
stage due to an ice jam.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...a flood statement providing the latest information 
in this flood event will be issued within the next 8 hours, or 
earlier if needed.

safety message...do not allow children to play near swollen rivers, 
streams or culverts. swiftly moving water can pose an imminent threat
to life.

...observed flooding increased from minor to moderate severity...
the flood warning continues for 
 the connecticut river at middle haddam.
* at  2:10 pm thursday the stage was 11.1 feet.
* flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* moderate flooding is occurring and moderate to minor flooding is
* forecast...the river will gradually fall to a stage of 10.0 feet 
  by tomorrow morning.
* impact...at 11.5 feet...flooding will likely result in the 
  evacuation of low lying areas along river road in cromwell and 
  meadow road in portland. flooding will occur in the harbor park 
  area. flooding increases in surrounding towns along the river, from
  middletown and portland to the river mouth at old saybrook.
