* timing...noon today to 7 am friday.
* snow accumulations...5 to 7 inches is expected.
* impacts...roads will become snow covered and slippery.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a winter weather advisory for snow means that accumulating snow
will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for snow covered
roads and reduced visibility...and use caution while driving.

...late season moderate snow late this afternoon through friday
morning across the keweenaw peninsula...
.low pressure moving out of the northern plains will bring
widespread precipitation to much of upper michigan this afternoon
into friday. since temperatures will be right around freezing...a
mix of rain and snow is expected. temperatures are expected to be
low enough to result in snow over the keweenaw peninsula...with the
most accumulation occurring tonight into friday morning. the snow may
fall heavy at times tonight...with gusty east to southeast winds
causing blowing snow. conditions will slowly improve during the day

including the cities of...copper harbor...houghton...hancock

evening to 11 am edt friday...
hazardous weather...
* precipitation will begin late this afternoon as snow or a mix of
rain and snow. mainly snow is expected tonight into friday. the snow
may fall heavy at times tonight...and slowly diminish in intensity
friday morning.
* storm total snowfall of 3 to 8 inches is expected...with the
highest amounts across the elevated terrain from hancock through
mohawk and copper harbor.
* roads will become snow and slush covered.
* gusty east to southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph tonight may
result in blowing and drifting snow.
