Cocoa Beach Pier Overview
This is an ocean fishing pier located about three miles south of Cape Canaveral. You could theoretically launch there off the beach, but most windsurfers and kiteboarders go to either Jetty Park, which is a beach park adjacent to Port Canaveral, or Cherie Downs Park, which is another beach park about a mile south of Jetty Park. Jetty Park costs $7 to get in per vehicle, but the beach launch there is excellent. The shorebreak is always smaller, there's less current, and the angle of the coast is such that a northeast wind will be more sideshore there than other beaches to the south. Cherie Downs park is similar, but the shorebreak is a little rougher than Jetty Park. Cherie Downs has the advantage of free parking. Both parks have bathrooms and grassy rigging areas. Jetty Park even has camping facilities.
